XE 991 dihydrochloride
- Parent CAS: 122955-42-4
- Soluble in DMSO
- MF: C26H20N2O.2HCl
- MW: 449.37
Description
XE 991 dihydrochloride is a KCNQ/Kv7 potassium channel blocker that inhibits the neuronal M-current.
Kv7-mediated M-currents stabilize membrane potential and regulate neuronal excitability. XE 991 is widely used to evaluate M-current contributions to firing behavior, synaptic responsiveness and cholinergic modulation.
Key Features
- Blocks KCNQ/Kv7 potassium channels
- Inhibits neuronal M-current
- Useful for excitability and firing-pattern studies
- Relevant to CNS potassium channel pharmacology
Applications
- KCNQ/Kv7 electrophysiology
- M-current inhibition studies
- Neuronal excitability models
- Epilepsy and cholinergic signaling research
XE991 hydrochloride is the water soluble salt of the parent molecule XE 991 (Axon 1987) that is also available from Axon Medchem.
