Flupirtine maleate
- D 9998 - Katadolon- Parent CAS: 56995-20-1
- Soluble in DMSO
- MF: C15H17FN4O2.C4H4O4
- MW: 420.39
Description
Flupirtine maleate is a centrally acting, non-opioid analgesic that activates neuronal Kv7/KCNQ potassium channels, stabilizing membrane potential and reducing excitability.
Flupirtine can indirectly reduce NMDA receptor-driven excitotoxicity by limiting depolarization and calcium entry. It is used in studies of Kv7 channel opening, analgesia, neuronal excitability and cytoprotection.
Key Features
- Neuronal Kv7/KCNQ potassium-channel opener
- Reduces membrane excitability and repetitive firing
- Centrally acting non-opioid analgesic pharmacology
- Indirectly limits excitotoxic NMDA receptor activation
Applications
- Kv7 channel electrophysiology
- Neuronal excitability and membrane-potential studies
- Analgesia and nociception models
- Excitotoxicity and neuroprotection research
