Description
XE 991 is a KCNQ/Kv7 potassium channel blocker that inhibits the neuronal M-current. It is widely used to study Kv7-mediated control of membrane excitability and neurotransmission.
Kv7 channels stabilize resting membrane potential and regulate repetitive firing in neurons, smooth muscle and cardiac tissues. XE 991 is pharmacologically relevant for probing M-current function, neuronal excitability and potassium-channel-dependent signaling.
