Description
J147 is an orally active neurotrophic and neuroprotective phenotypic screening compound that targets the α subunit of mitochondrial F1-ATP synthase (ATP5A). Modulation of ATP synthase alters intracellular calcium handling and activates CAMKK2- and AMPK-associated stress-resilience pathways.
J147 promotes memory performance in rodents and preserves synaptic proteins and cognitive function in several aging and neurodegeneration models. It is used to investigate mitochondrial bioenergetics, calcium signaling, neurotrophic responses and age-associated cognitive decline.
