Description
LY 2886721 hydrochloride is an orally active, cell-permeable β-secretase 1 (BACE1) inhibitor. It inhibits BACE1-mediated cleavage of amyloid precursor protein, a key step in amyloid-β generation.
BACE1 is a major therapeutic target in Alzheimer disease research because it initiates amyloidogenic processing of APP. LY 2886721 is useful for studying amyloid-β production, BACE pathway pharmacology and CNS drug-discovery models.
