Description
NS 19504 is a potent activator of large-conductance Ca2+-activated potassium channels (BK/KCa1.1/MaxiK) with an EC50 value of 11 μM in a Tl+ flux assay. It inhibits urinary bladder spontaneous phasic contractions while showing a favorable selectivity profile across receptor and ion-channel panels.
BK channels regulate membrane potential, smooth-muscle tone and excitability in multiple tissues. NS 19504 is useful for studying BK channel activation, bladder smooth-muscle pharmacology and ion-channel selectivity.
