Description
CNQX disodium salt is a competitive antagonist of AMPA and kainate ionotropic glutamate receptors. It blocks fast excitatory synaptic transmission mediated by non-NMDA glutamate receptor channels. It is a water-soluble sodium salt form of CNQX (Axon 1200).
AMPA and kainate receptors mediate rapid excitatory neurotransmission, synaptic plasticity and excitotoxic responses in the CNS. CNQX disodium salt is useful for electrophysiology, neuropharmacology and glutamate receptor subtype-dissection experiments.
