Description
MPEP hydrochloride is a potent and selective metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5) antagonist/negative allosteric modulator that is systemically active in vivo.
mGluR5 regulates excitatory neurotransmission, synaptic plasticity, nociception and CNS disease-related pathways. MPEP is a reference tool for reducing mGluR5-dependent signaling without directly blocking ionotropic glutamate receptors.
