Description
Levofloxacin Q-acid is a fluoroquinolone-related bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV inhibitor with reported antibacterial activity against penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae (MIC 0.75 μg/mL). It is structurally related to quinolone antibacterial agents and is useful for comparative antimicrobial studies.
DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV are essential bacterial enzymes controlling DNA topology during replication and cell division. Levofloxacin Q-acid supports studies of quinolone pharmacology, antibacterial mechanism-of-action and resistance-relevant bacterial DNA replication pathways.
