Description
Solithromycin (CEM-101 or OP-1068) ) is an orally active fluoroketolide antibiotic with reported high potency against diverse groups of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It binds to multiple sites of the bacterial large ribosomal subunit (23S rRNA) near the ribosomal exit tunnel. Solithromycin is a next-generation antibiotic engineered to overcome widespread macrolide resistance in respiratory and genitourinary tract infections.
Solithromycin is relevant for antimicrobial pharmacology, target validation and resistance-focused studies involving antibiotics.
