Description
KKL-10 is an inhibitor of bacterial trans-translation, a ribosome-rescue pathway that releases stalled ribosomes and tags incomplete nascent proteins for degradation. Inhibition of this pathway compromises bacterial stress tolerance and viability.
KKL-10 displays potent antimicrobial activity against attenuated and fully virulent Francisella tularensis, with reported MIC values of 0.12 µg/mL and 0.48 µg/mL, respectively. It is used to study tmRNA/SmpB-dependent ribosome rescue and pathogen survival during cellular infection.
