Description
Zaleplon is a non-benzodiazepine hypnotic compound that selectively binds the benzodiazepine/ω1 site on α1-containing GABAA receptors.
α1-containing GABAA receptor modulation is associated with sedative-hypnotic effects and sleep induction. Zaleplon is useful for studying benzodiazepine-site pharmacology, GABAA subtype selectivity and mechanisms that regulate sleep and CNS sedation.
