Description
(R)-(−)-PK 11195 is the R-enantiomer of the high-affinity 18 kDa translocator protein (TSPO) antagonist PK 11195. Radiolabeled [11C](R)-PK 11195 is widely used as a positron-emission tomography tracer for detecting changes in TSPO expression.
Because TSPO is upregulated in activated microglia and other inflammatory cell populations, (R)-PK 11195 is used as a reference standard and radioligand parent in neuroinflammation, gliosis and peripheral inflammatory imaging research. Interpretation requires consideration of nonspecific binding and TSPO expression outside the central nervous system.
