Description
PD0332991 hydrochloride is palbociclib, a selective inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6 (CDK4/6). It prevents phosphorylation of retinoblastoma protein (RB), thereby suppressing E2F-dependent transcription and arresting responsive cells in the G1 phase.
Palbociclib is a clinically validated cell-cycle inhibitor used to study cyclin D–CDK4/6 dependence, endocrine-therapy combinations and mechanisms of resistance. It is particularly relevant to RB-positive, hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer models. Another salt form, PD0332991 isethionate (Axon 2052) is also available.
