Description
Autophinib is a potent inhibitor of the class III phosphoinositide 3-kinase VPS34 (PIK3C3) with an IC50 value of 19 nM. By blocking VPS34-dependent phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate formation, it interferes with membrane trafficking events required for autophagosome formation and maturation.
Autophinib suppresses autophagy induced by nutrient starvation or rapamycin, with reported IC50 values of 40 nM and 90 nM, respectively. It is used to investigate VPS34-dependent autophagy, vesicular trafficking and the contribution of autophagic flux to cellular stress responses.
