Description
NSC 59984 is a small-molecule activator of p53 pathway signaling reported to restore wild-type p53-like responses in mutant p53-expressing colorectal cancer cells through p73 activation. It induces tumor-cell death with limited effects in normal cells in reported studies.
Mutant p53 disrupts tumor-suppressor signaling and supports cancer cell survival, while p73 can compensate for selected p53 pathway functions. NSC 59984 is useful for studying mutant p53 reactivation strategies and p53-family transcriptional control.
