Description
Pifithrin-μ is an inhibitor of p53 binding to mitochondria by reducing its affinity to antiapoptotic proteins Bcl-xL and Bcl-2 but has no effect on p53-dependent transactivation. Pifithrin-μ is also an inhibitor of inducible heat shock protein 70 and interacts selectively with HSP70 and leads to a disruption of the association between HSP70 and several of its cochaperones and substrate proteins.
