Description
SB-3CT is a potent and selective inhibitor of gelatinases MMP-2 and MMP-9 with Ki values of 13.9 nM and 600 nM, respectively. It is substantially less potent against MMP-1, MMP-3 and MMP-7 and has shown neuroprotective effects after transient focal cerebral ischemia in mice.
MMP-2 and MMP-9 regulate extracellular-matrix remodeling, blood-brain barrier disruption and inflammatory tissue injury. SB-3CT is a useful probe for gelatinase-selective MMP inhibition in neurovascular and cancer biology.
