Description
UK 356618 is a potent and selective matrix metalloproteinase-3 (MMP-3, stromelysin-1) inhibitor with an IC50 value of 5.9 nM. It is reported to be more than 140-fold selective over MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-9 and MMP-14.
MMP-3 contributes to extracellular matrix degradation, tissue remodeling and activation of other metalloproteinases. UK 356618 is a focused pharmacological tool for defining MMP-3-specific biology without broad pan-MMP inhibition.
