Description
AM 251 is a selective cannabinoid CB1 receptor antagonist/inverse agonist with a reported Ki value of 7.5 nM at CB1 receptors.
CB1 receptors regulate synaptic transmission, appetite, reward and metabolic signaling. AM 251 is frequently used to block CB1-mediated endocannabinoid responses in vitro and in vivo. AM251 is structurally very closely related to Rimonabant (SR 141716A, Axon 1220) but it is about two-fold more selective for the CB1 receptor when compared to Rimonabant.
