Description
SK-216 is a small-molecule inhibitor of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1/SERPINE1). By reducing PAI-1 activity and expression in experimental systems, it modulates proteolytic, extracellular-matrix and signaling pathways linked to angiogenesis and tumor-cell dissemination.
SK-216 has been used in intestinal polyp, lung metastasis, melanoma and osteosarcoma models, where it reduced tumor progression, angiogenesis or metastatic behavior. It is a useful tool for investigating how PAI-1 influences the tumor microenvironment and invasive disease phenotypes.
