KN 93
- Soluble in DMSO
- MF: C26H29ClN2O4S
- MW: 501.04
Description
KN 93 is an inhibitor of Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII). It suppresses CaMKII-dependent phosphorylation while also showing reported effects on voltage-gated calcium channels, which should be considered in experimental interpretation.
CaMKII integrates calcium/calmodulin signals to regulate synaptic plasticity, cardiac excitation-contraction coupling, ion-channel phosphorylation and cell signaling. KN 93 is a common tool for studying CaMKII-dependent pathways in neuronal and cardiovascular models.
Key Features
- CaMKII inhibitor
- Reported Ki: 0.37 µM for CaMKII phosphorylating activity
- Suppresses calcium/calmodulin-dependent kinase signaling
- Reported off-target effects at CaV1.3 and CaV1.2 channels should be considered
Applications
- CaMKII kinase pharmacology
- Calcium signaling and phosphorylation assays
- Synaptic plasticity and neuronal signaling studies
- Cardiac excitation-contraction coupling research
The water-soluble salt, KN 93 phosphate (Axon 2555) is available as well.
