Description
Naltrexone hydrochloride is a competitive opioid receptor antagonist with high affinity for μ- and κ-opioid receptors and lower affinity at δ-opioid receptors. It is used to suppress opioid receptor signaling in central and peripheral pharmacology models.
By blocking opioid receptor activation, naltrexone enables investigation of endogenous opioid tone, dependence-related signaling, reward mechanisms and analgesic pathway modulation. It is a clinically established reference compound for opioid antagonist pharmacology.
