Description
Bortezomib is a highly selective, reversible 26S proteasome inhibitor that blocks proteasomal protein degradation and is widely used as a reference compound for proteasome-dependent oncology research.
Inhibition of the proteasome disrupts regulated protein turnover, induces proteotoxic stress and can suppress NF-κB pathway activation by preventing IκB degradation. Bortezomib is especially relevant for studies of plasma-cell malignancies and apoptosis induction.
