Description

DEAB (NSC 8782) is a potent inhibitor of cytosolic class 1 aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) enzymes, including ALDH1A isoforms. It is widely used to suppress retinoic acid biosynthesis and ALDH-dependent stem-cell phenotypes.

ALDH enzymes regulate aldehyde detoxification, retinoid metabolism, oxidative stress resistance and cancer stem-cell marker activity. DEAB is useful for studying ALDH1 function, retinoic acid signaling and ALDH-dependent differentiation or tumor biology.
