Fluphenazine decanoate dihydrochloride
- Prolixin Decanoate dihydrochloride- Parent CAS: 5002-47-1
- Soluble in DMSO
- MF: C32H44F3N3O2S.2HCl
- MW: 664.69
Description
Fluphenazine decanoate dihydrochloride is a phenothiazine antipsychotic prodrug that releases fluphenazine and displays high-affinity dopamine D2/D3 receptor antagonism together with 5-HT2 receptor activity. Reported Ki values include 0.2 nM for D2, 0.11 nM for D3 and 2.0 nM for 5-HT2 receptors.
Dopamine D2-family blockade is central to antipsychotic pharmacology and motor/endocrine side-effect biology. Fluphenazine decanoate is relevant for long-acting antipsychotic mechanism studies and receptor-binding comparisons across dopaminergic and serotonergic systems.
Key Features
- High-affinity D2 and D3 receptor antagonist
- Phenothiazine antipsychotic pharmacology profile
- Also interacts with 5-HT2 receptors
- Useful reference for long-acting dopamine antagonist research
Applications
- Dopamine receptor pharmacology
- Antipsychotic mechanism studies
- D2/D3 binding assay comparison
- CNS drug-discovery model research
