Description
Apilimod dimesylate is the water-soluble mesylate salt of Apilimod (Axon 1369) which is a potent PIKfyve inhibitor that also suppresses IL-12 and IL-23 production in immune-cell systems. It disrupts phosphoinositide-dependent endolysosomal trafficking and cytokine regulation.
PIKfyve generates PI(3,5)P2, a lipid signal required for endosome and lysosome homeostasis. Apilimod dimesylate is useful for studying endolysosomal dysfunction, autophagy-lysosome biology, immune cytokine production and pathogen entry mechanisms.
