Description
ThioLox is an inhibitor of 15-lipoxygenase-1 (15-LOX-1/ALOX15) with an IC50 value of 12 µM. It suppresses enzymatic oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids and thereby modulates formation of lipid mediators involved in inflammation and oxidative injury.
ThioLox reduced pro-inflammatory gene expression in ex vivo precision-cut lung slices and protected HT-22 neuronal cells against glutamate-induced toxicity. It is useful for investigating 15-LOX-1 function in pulmonary inflammation, lipid peroxidation and oxidative neurotoxicity.
