Description
ONO 5334 is a potent and orally available cathepsin K inhibitor with reported Ki values of 0.1 nM, 0.049 nM and 0.85 nM for human, rabbit and rat enzyme respectively. It suppresses osteoclast-mediated bone resorption in vitro.
Cathepsin K mediates degradation of bone matrix proteins during osteoclastic resorption. ONO 5334 is relevant for osteoporosis research, antiresorptive pharmacology and models of calcium and bone-turnover regulation.
