Description
Torcetrapib (CP529414) is a cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) inhibitor. It modulates lipoprotein cholesterol transfer and was developed for studying HDL-raising and cardiovascular lipid-modifying pharmacology.
CETP transfers cholesteryl esters from HDL to apoB-containing lipoproteins and influences HDL and LDL cholesterol profiles. Torcetrapib is useful for investigating CETP biology, lipoprotein remodeling and cardiovascular risk mechanisms.
Key Features
- CETP inhibitor
- Modulates HDL and LDL lipoprotein metabolism
- Targets cholesteryl ester transfer between lipoproteins
- Relevant to cardiovascular lipid pharmacology
Applications
- CETP activity assays
- Lipoprotein metabolism research
- HDL cholesterol pathway studies
- Cardiovascular drug-discovery models
