Description
Sitamaquine tosylate (WR-6026) is an orally active antileishmanial compound reported to inhibit mitochondrial complex II, also known as succinate dehydrogenase, in Leishmania promastigotes.
Complex II links the tricarboxylic acid cycle to the respiratory chain and is an important metabolic vulnerability in parasites. Sitamaquine is relevant for investigating parasite mitochondrial bioenergetics, antileishmanial mechanisms and host-pathogen pharmacology.
