Description
ML 297 (VU0456810) is a potent and selective activator of GIRK potassium channels, preferentially activating GIRK1-containing channels. It enhances inwardly rectifying K+ conductance and has shown antiepileptic activity in preclinical models.
GIRK channels regulate neuronal excitability downstream of GPCR signaling, including GABAergic, dopaminergic and opioid pathways. ML 297 is useful for probing GIRK channel activation, inhibitory neurotransmission and seizure-related neuronal network excitability.
