Description
Sumatriptan succinate is a selective serotonin 5-HT1B/5-HT1D receptor agonist that constricts cranial vessels and suppresses trigeminal neuropeptide release.
Activation of 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D receptors is central to triptan pharmacology and interruption of migraine-associated trigeminovascular signaling. Sumatriptan is a clinically established reference agonist for migraine, vascular and sensory-neuropeptide research.
