Description
IMT1B (LDC203974) is a first-in-class, potent and highly specific allosteric inhibitor of human mitochondrial RNA polymerase (POLRMT). POLRMT is essential for mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) transcription and the biogenesis of the oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) system. Inhibition of POLRMT by IMT1B disrupts mitochondrial gene expression and mitochondrial function.
POLRMT plays a central role in mitochondrial transcription and energy metabolism by regulating expression of mitochondrial-encoded components of the respiratory chain. IMT1B has demonstrated potent antitumor activity in preclinical mouse cancer models and is a valuable tool for studying mitochondrial biology, OXPHOS regulation, and cancer metabolism.
