SPT Imidazopyridine 1
- Soluble in 0.1N NaOH(aq) and DMSO
- MF: C22H24N2O3
- MW: 364.44
Description
SPT Imidazopyridine 1 is a potent inhibitor of serine palmitoyltransferase (SPT) with an IC50 value of 5 nM. SPT catalyzes the first committed step in de novo sphingolipid synthesis by condensing L-serine with palmitoyl-CoA.
In rodents, SPT Imidazopyridine 1 reduces circulating ceramides and produces changes in lipid handling, including reduced triglycerides and increased HDL in cholesterol/cholic-acid-fed rats. It is used to investigate de novo ceramide biosynthesis, insulin sensitivity and sphingolipid contributions to metabolic disease.
Key Features
- Potent serine palmitoyltransferase inhibitor
- IC50: 5 nM
- Reduces plasma ceramide levels in rodents
- Favorable reported in vitro and ADME profile
Applications
- SPT enzymology
- De novo sphingolipid synthesis research
- Ceramide metabolism studies
- Insulin-sensitivity models
- Dyslipidemia and lipid-homeostasis research
