Description

SPT Imidazopyridine 1 is a potent inhibitor of serine palmitoyltransferase (SPT) with an IC50 value of 5 nM. SPT catalyzes the first committed step in de novo sphingolipid synthesis by condensing L-serine with palmitoyl-CoA.

In rodents, SPT Imidazopyridine 1 reduces circulating ceramides and produces changes in lipid handling, including reduced triglycerides and increased HDL in cholesterol/cholic-acid-fed rats. It is used to investigate de novo ceramide biosynthesis, insulin sensitivity and sphingolipid contributions to metabolic disease.

Key Features

  • Potent serine palmitoyltransferase inhibitor
  • IC50: 5 nM
  • Reduces plasma ceramide levels in rodents
  • Favorable reported in vitro and ADME profile

Applications

  • SPT enzymology
  • De novo sphingolipid synthesis research
  • Ceramide metabolism studies
  • Insulin-sensitivity models
  • Dyslipidemia and lipid-homeostasis research
