Lalistat 2
- Soluble in DMSO
- MF: C13H20N4O2S
- MW: 296.39
Description
Lalistat 2 is a potent inhibitor of lysosomal acid lipase (LAL/LIPA) with an IC50 value of 152 nM. It shows little inhibition of human pancreatic lipase or bovine milk lipoprotein lipase at concentrations used in the original selectivity studies.
Lalistat 2 is widely used to distinguish lysosomal acid lipase activity from neutral lipase activity in biochemical and dried-blood-spot assays. It is also used to model impaired lysosomal cholesteryl-ester and triglyceride hydrolysis, although reported effects on neutral lipid metabolism should be considered when interpreting prolonged cellular exposure.
Key Features
- Potent LAL inhibitor
- IC50: 152 nM
- Useful for differential LAL activity assays
- Limited activity against pancreatic and lipoprotein lipases in initial profiling
Applications
- LAL and LIPA enzyme assays
- Dried-blood-spot lipase measurements
- Lysosomal lipid-metabolism studies
- Cholesteryl-ester hydrolysis research
- Lysosomal acid lipase deficiency models
