Description
BI 99990 is the substantially less active enantiomer of the FASN inhibitor BI 99179 and is intended as a matched negative-control compound. Its close physicochemical relationship to BI 99179 allows experimental effects caused by FASN inhibition to be separated from scaffold-related or nonspecific responses.
BI 99990 is used in paired chemical-genetic experiments, phenotypic screening and in vivo studies as an inactive comparator for BI 99179. Results should be interpreted by confirming that the control is tested at matched concentration, exposure and formulation.
