Description
WAY-267464 dihydrochloride is a potent, nonpeptide agonist of the oxytocin receptor (OXTR), with a reported Ki of 58.4 nM at the human receptor. It activates OXTR-mediated signaling but does not fully reproduce the pharmacology of the peptide hormone oxytocin.
Receptor-profiling studies indicate that WAY-267464 has mixed oxytocin/vasopressin pharmacology and can act as a vasopressin V1A receptor antagonist. This activity is important when interpreting behavioral experiments, including social-recognition, anxiety-related, and stress-response studies. WAY-267464 is therefore most useful as a nonpeptide OXTR probe when OXTR and V1A receptor contributions are evaluated in parallel.
