PEPCK
Cytosolic Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (cPEPCK; EC 4.1.1.32) is an enzyme in the lyase family used in the metabolic pathway of gluconeogenesis. It converts oxaloacetate into phosphoenolpyruvate and carbon dioxide. cPEPCK has become a virtual marker for hepatic gluconeogenesis, and the level of its gene transcription in the liver is considered an important indicator in the evaluation of type 2 diabetes[1].
