Levonorgestrel
- Soluble in DMSO
- MF: C21H28O2
- MW: 312.45
Description
Levonorgestrel is a second-generation synthetic progestogen and progesterone receptor agonist. It displays potent progestational activity with androgenic properties and lacks estrogen-like activity.
Progesterone receptor signaling regulates reproductive tissue biology, ovulation, endometrial function and endocrine feedback. Levonorgestrel is useful for studying progestin pharmacology, steroid receptor signaling and contraceptive mechanism research.
Key Features
- Synthetic progesterone receptor agonist
- Potent progestational activity
- Displays androgenic but not estrogen-like activity
- Relevant to endocrine and reproductive pharmacology
Applications
- Progesterone receptor assays
- Contraceptive mechanism studies
- Steroid hormone signaling research
- Reproductive biology models
