Description
MCC950 is a highly potent and selective inhibitor of the NLRP3 inflammasome with IC50 values of 7.5 nM and 8.1 nM in mouse bone marrow derived macrophages (BMDM) and human monocyte derived macrophages (HMDM), respectively. MCC950 specifically inhibits NLRP3 but not AIM2, NLRC4 or NLRP1 activation. It is widely used in cell culture to block NLRP3-dependent caspase-1 activation, IL-1beta processing, and pyroptotic cell death.
MCC950 sodium salt is the preferred salt form, offering superior solubility in aqueous solutions (water and DMSO, >100 mM) compared to the free base and making it easier to prepare stock solutions for cell culture.
