Description
AZD7986 (Brensocatib) is a potent, reversible and selective inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase 1 (DPP1/cathepsin C), with a reported pIC50 value of 8.4 against the human enzyme. It also shows useful cross-species activity in mouse, rat, dog and rabbit DPP1 assays.
DPP1 activates neutrophil serine proteases during granulocyte maturation. By inhibiting DPP1, AZD7986 reduces maturation of neutrophil elastase, proteinase 3 and cathepsin G, making it a valuable tool for studying neutrophil protease biology, inflammatory tissue injury and pulmonary inflammation.
