Description
TGN 020 is an aquaporin-4 (AQP4) inhibitor used to study water-channel function in the central nervous system and peripheral tissues. It inhibits AQP4-mediated water transport and has been applied in models of edema and glial physiology.
AQP4 is highly expressed in astrocyte endfeet and contributes to brain water homeostasis, edema formation, glymphatic flow and neuroinflammatory responses. TGN 020 is a pharmacological tool for probing AQP4-dependent fluid movement and osmoregulation.
Key Features
- Aquaporin-4 water-channel inhibitor
- Reported IC50: 3.1 µM for AQP4 inhibition
- Modulates AQP4-dependent water permeability
- Useful for investigating edema and astrocyte water handling
Applications
- AQP4 transporter pharmacology
- Brain edema and neuroinflammation studies
- Astrocyte and glial physiology research
- Water transport and osmoregulation assays
