Description
SB 269970 hydrochloride is a potent and selective serotonin 5-HT7 receptor antagonist with reported pKi of 8.9 for the 5-HT7a receptor and more than 50-fold selectivity over many serotonergic, dopaminergic and adrenergic receptors.
The 5-HT7 receptor regulates circadian rhythms, thermoregulation, mood, cognition and sensorimotor processing. SB 269970 is relevant for serotonergic CNS research and for studying antipsychotic-like effects in hyperactivity and prepulse-inhibition models.
Key Features
- Potent 5-HT7 receptor antagonist
- High selectivity over related monoamine receptors
- Blocks 5-HT7a receptor signaling
- Active in CNS behavioral pharmacology models
Applications
- 5-HT7 receptor pharmacology
- Serotonergic signaling studies
- Schizophrenia model research
- Circadian and cognitive pathway assays
