Geranyl pyrophosphate ammonium salt
- GPP- Parent CAS: 763-10-0
- Soluble in water
- MF: C10H20O7P2.3NH3
- MW: 365.3
Description
Geranyl pyrophosphate ammonium salt is geranyl pyrophosphate (GPP), an activated C10 isoprenoid intermediate and substrate for multiple prenyltransferases and terpene synthases. It is formed from dimethylallyl pyrophosphate and isopentenyl pyrophosphate within the mevalonate and isoprenoid biosynthetic network.
GPP provides the geranyl group used in monoterpene biosynthesis and can serve as a biochemical substrate in enzyme assays examining prenyl transfer, terpene formation and pathway flux. It is useful for mechanistic studies of isoprenoid metabolism and natural-product biosynthesis.
Key Features
- Activated C10 isoprenoid biosynthetic intermediate
- Substrate for geranyl transferases and monoterpene synthases
- Participates in mevalonate-derived isoprenoid metabolism
- Suitable for prenyltransferase and terpene-synthase assays
Applications
- Geranyl transferase enzyme assays
- Terpene and terpenoid biosynthesis research
- Mevalonate and isoprenoid pathway studies
- Natural-product biosynthesis and metabolic-flux experiments
