Frequently Asked Questions

How are Axon Ligands™ shipped?

All products are shipped at ambient temperature. Even for items labeled for storage at +4°C or -20°C, short transit periods (up to one week) at room temperature do not significantly impact quality or shelf life.

What are the optimal storage conditions?

Upon receipt, store products as indicated on the product label and Certificate of Analysis (CoA). Most solid compounds in sealed vials remain stable at the specified temperature for up to two years.

How do I prepare a stock solution?

Choose a suitable solvent based on your experimental setup. DMSO is commonly used for in vitro assays. Refer to the solubility section on the CoA for details. It is recommended to dissolve small quantities directly in the original vial to minimize loss.

Before opening the vial, gently tap or use an ultrasonic bath to collect solid material at the bottom. For oily materials or pre-made solutions, briefly centrifuge at low RPM.

Packing Accuracy:

  • 1.0–2.0 mg: ± 0.02 mg
  • 5–50 mg: ± 0.1 mg
  • 100–500 mg: ± 1 mg
  • >1000 mg: up to 5 mg

Stock solutions in DMSO should be prepared using a calibrated pipette and aliquoted to minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Typical storage: up to 6 months at -20°C, or 2 weeks at +4°C. Working dilutions should be freshly prepared and mixed thoroughly by vortexing or pipetting.

How pure are Axon Ligands™?

Axon Ligands™ typically exceed 98% purity based on HPLC-MS, 1H-NMR, and microanalytical data. Impurities are generally below 1%.

How do I calculate stock solution concentrations?

Use the formula:
Mass (g) = Concentration (mol/L) × Volume (L) × Molecular Weight (g/mol)

What should be kept in mind?

Molecular weights listed on our website are based on ideal structures and may differ slightly from those on CoAs or labels due to residual solvents. Always use the molecular weight from the CoA for calculations.

  • Do not autoclave compounds or stock solutions. Use sterile filtration instead.
  • Limit final DMSO concentration in cell assays to below 0.3% to avoid toxicity.
  • Refer to CoAs for any special handling instructions, especially for unstable compounds that should be stored under nitrogen.

Is a hard-copy of your product catalogue available?

We provide a downloadable PDF catalogue that is updated periodically. This ensures the latest information on pricing, product availability, and additions—while also supporting environmentally friendly practices.
