Description
HypoxyStat is an orally active hypoxia mimetic which increases the binding affinity of hemoglobin for oxygen, thereby decreasing oxygen offloading to tissues. The increase of oxygen-hemoglobin affinity was shown to prevent and reverse pathology in a mouse model of mitochondrial disease. Also, HypoxyStat rescued hyperglycemia in mouse models of type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
