Description
Dorzolamide hydrochloride is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor used to reduce carbonic-anhydrase-dependent bicarbonate formation and aqueous humor production.
Inhibition of carbonic anhydrase in ocular tissues is pharmacologically relevant for lowering intraocular pressure. Dorzolamide is useful as a reference compound in carbonic anhydrase pharmacology, ophthalmic drug research and glaucoma-related experimental systems.
Key Features
- Carbonic anhydrase inhibitor with ophthalmic relevance
- Reduces carbonic-anhydrase-dependent bicarbonate formation
- Supports studies of aqueous humor production and intraocular pressure
- Reference tool for glaucoma and ocular hypertension research
Applications
- Carbonic anhydrase enzyme assays
- Glaucoma and ocular hypertension research
- Ophthalmic pharmacology studies
- Aqueous humor regulation models
