Hsc70

Heat shock cognate protein 70 (Hsc70; EC 3.6.4.10) is a constitutively expressed molecular chaperone which belongs to the family of heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70). Hsc70 shares some of the structural and functional similarity with Hsp70. Hsc70 also has different properties compared with Hsp70 and other heat shock family members. Hsc70 and Hsp70 show significant differences in their carboxyl-terminal domain which is involved in mediating substrate specificity and particular biological functions. Additionally, Hsc70 and Hsp70 have different expression patterns. Hsc70 is the constitutively expressed form and only mildly induced during stress situation while Hsp70 is highly inducible during stress. Hsc70 performs its full functions by the cooperation of co-chaperones. It interacts with many other molecules as well and regulates various cellular functions[1].

Hsp subclasses listed: Hsc70Hsp70Hsp90
