Angiotensin (AT)

The angiotensin receptors are activated by the vasoconstricting peptide angiotensin II. They are important for the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) or the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS); a hormone system that regulates blood pressure and water (fluid) balance. Effects mediated by the AT2 receptor are suggested to include inhibition of cell growth, fetal tissue development, modulation of extracellular matrix, neuronal regeneration, apoptosis, cellular differentiation, and maybe vasodilatation and left ventricular hypertrophy[1].
